Unmiss vs Routinery: which routine app fits you?
Both apps walk you through a routine one step at a time, with timed steps. Routinery reads every step aloud and adds streaks and a pomodoro. Unmiss puts routines next to to-dos you plan by day and focus blocks that can keep the apps you pick shut. A partner hears only whether a routine you shared was kept.
How they compare
| Topic | Unmiss | Routinery |
|---|---|---|
| Running a routine | One step at a time, with timed steps when you want them. A cue comes when a step's time is up | 1 to 5 minute steps, each on its own timer, with a voice that calls out what comes nextR1 |
| During a run | "Then:" shows the next step, and you tap Next | Stretch a timer, skip a step or reorder what's leftR2 |
| Starting | Start it yourself, or schedule it and get a "Starts in N minutes" heads-up | Set the weekdays and time and a reminder arrivesR3 |
| To-dos | Priorities, notes, due dates, subtasks and recurring to-dos. A to-do can sit on a day with no time | Undated tasks, weekly repeats, timed one-time tasks and an Anytime listR4 |
| Seeing the day | A list for today, or a Timeline with the free time between things | A list, a calendar or a timelineR5 |
| Focus | A block ends by its timer. Deep Focus keeps the apps you pick shut until it ends | A pomodoro that announces the next taskR6 |
| Sharing | A partner hears if a routine you shared isn't kept, never which step | Share a routine's task list and see how far each of you got; a finished routine's result goes to the person you pickedR7 |
| Progress | What you answered, and minutes focused | A plant that grows with your streak, plus weekly and monthly statsR8 |
| AI | None | Build routines from ChatGPT, Claude and othersR9 |
Pick Unmiss if...
- Your routines sit inside a day that also has to-dos, and you want both on one list.
- During focus, you want the apps you pick to stay shut until the block ends.
- You'd rather a partner hear whether a routine was kept than see your progress through it.
- You want an evening review that moves what's left to another day.
What Unmiss doesn't do
Unmiss doesn't read steps aloud and has no streak rewards or AI. Focus has no break cycles, and a block ending never ticks off its to-do. A to-do stays open until you tick it.
Questions
Does my partner see my steps?
No. If you share a routine, your partner hears if it isn't kept. They never hear which step.
Can an Unmiss routine start without me opening the app?
Yes, if you schedule it. It starts at its time, after a "Starts in N minutes" heads-up. A routine you haven't scheduled starts only when you tap Start.
Can I run a routine without timers?
Yes. Timed steps are there when you want them, and a step that rings nothing is ticked in the checklist.
